{"id":3785,"date":"2019-01-09T20:39:23","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T19:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/water.ma\/but-does-it-really-soften-the-water\/"},"modified":"2019-01-25T16:42:08","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T15:42:08","slug":"but-does-it-really-soften-the-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/water.ma\/en\/but-does-it-really-soften-the-water\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;But Does it Really Soften The Water?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>That\u2019s the question you need to ask if you are considering the purchase of a \u201c<em>salt-free water softener.<\/em>\u201d Don\u2019t beat around the bush, pick up the phone and call whatever company is saying that they sell a salt-free water softener and just ask them:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2><strong><em>\u201cBut does it really soften the water?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If they say yes, then I will call them and buy it for you.\u00a0 I\u2019ll pay for it! It\u2019s on me!\u00a0 I guess you must think that I am just some really nice guy because I am going to give you a salt-free water softener for FREE!\u00a0 WOW!\u00a0 Isn\u2019t that great?\u00a0 Well, I am not going to be spending a dime of my own money because, there really is no such thing as a salt-free water softener.\u00a0 It only exists in the minds of unscrupulous marketers who want to deceive you into buying their salt-free softener\u2026 that doesn\u2019t actually soften the water.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an actual conversation I had with one of those companies.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Me: \u2026 so does it actually soften the water?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>CSR: Yes it does.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me: So if I use a hardness test kit and test the water out of your system, it will test at Zero Hardness?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>CSR: Yes, absolutely.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me: Can I speak to your supervisor?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>CSR: Why, I can answer your questions?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me: I don\u2019t believe you are telling me the truth.\u00a0 I want to speak to your supervisor.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(after a considerable wait)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Supervisor:\u00a0 How can I help you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me: Your rep was telling me that you system actually softens the water and that if I test it with a hardness test kit it will be Zero.\u00a0 Is that true?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Supervisor:\u00a0 Well, it doesn\u2019t actually soften the water and it will not test zero, but it does put the hardess minerals in a state whereby they react like soft water.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me:\u00a0 But it doesn\u2019t actually soften the water does it?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Supervisor:\u00a0 I notice you are in the 317 area code.\u00a0 Would this happen to be Mark Timmons?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me:\u00a0 Yes, it is.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>CLICK!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I don\u2019t understand why they don\u2019t like me.\u00a0 All I want is for them to tell the truth.\u00a0 They don\u2019t have a salt-free water softener because IT DOES NOT SOFTEN THE WATER!\u00a0 It is a salt-free \u201cCONDITIONER\u201d but you can\u2019t call it a softener if it does not soften the water.\u00a0 One of these companies did say \u201c<em>Well, it doesn\u2019t ACTUALLY soften the water<\/em>\u2026\u201d\u00a0 OK, so why persist in calling something a water softener when it does not, in fact, soften the water?\u00a0 The answer is simple: Because a lot fewer people would buy their products if they did not call them a salt-free water softener.<\/p>\n<p>Salt-Free Water Softeners are like unicorns.\u00a0 You can talk about them all you want , but no one has ever seen one.\u00a0 They are PURELY fiction, just like salt-free water softeners are fiction. The fact that companies in the water treatment industry are claiming they have salt-free water softeners, when they really don\u2019t, gives our whole industry a black eye. It is simply false and misleading advertising designed to trick consumers into buying a product.<\/p>\n<p>The Water Quality Association (<strong>www.WQA.org<\/strong>) has a <strong>Code of Ethics<\/strong> that this form of deceptive advertising violates in\u00a0 many ways.
